Hey guys, my names Tom and I started Pound Shop Flix in 2019 as an excuse to start writing critically again after finishing my History degree, and missing that kind of analytical/ expressive outlet. Pound Shop Flix is an entirely amateur endeavor; I do it because I enjoy doing it. I’ve no great grounding in Film theory, but I do like films and I like talking shit- so here we are!
I live in Britain and so, even though most of the films I’m likely to watch will be American, that will likely colour my perspective (and spelling) somewhat. I try to be fair in my assessment of these films and am not seeking to be actively offensive or unkind.
In terms of films that I do like, I’m a fan of Sci-Fi, Superheroes and Comedy as well as foreign language films and Martial Arts films. Some faves off the top of my head are The Shawshank Redemption, Frank, Drunken Master, Turn Me On Goddammit, Star Wars, and The Avengers Films. At present I would say my favourite ever film is Force Majeure.
